How to choose a surgeon in the Dallas, Garland and Plano area.
1. Talk to your primary care physician since he knows the most about you and your medical history and status. In addition, he knows the Dallas and Plano areal surgeons and surgery centers and can make a recommendation to you.
2. Research the doctor. Look him up on the internet see what you can find. Some people find that seeing a picture of the surgeon, a video of him talking and a biography help you find out if you feel comfortable with him or her. Is the doctor board certified? What hospitals or surgery centers is he able to perform surgery at?(this is called credentialed) You can also look for reviews where patients have reviewed doctors that they have been patients of. Other sites will let you know if there are any actions taken by medical organizations against that doctor. D Magazine chooses doctors from peer reviews and puts out an annual "Best Doctors in Dallas" edition which contains biographies and photos of the best doctors in Dallas (and Plano too)
3. Make an appointment with the doctor first and talk to him or her, you will get a good feel on whether or not your "gut reaction" tells you that he is the right doctor or not for your surgery. Listen to your instincts. Ask him about his qualifications and also everything about the surgery, risks, procedures, etc. Bring as much of your medical records as possible so he can know about you.
